Sunday Funday,

Yesterday my mom her friend and my friend came to visit. I’m really glad they got to and had an awesome time :]. When they got here we went to Tiffini’s- everyone should go its super good food and cute inside. Next stop was my sorority house to show them where I’ll most likely be living next year along with the rest of frat village drive. They really liked it, which made me happy. Walmart came next to look at bronco gear and hung in my room with Kaleigh. Bdubs was for dinner and the game for halftime. We met back up with my mom and friend for sweetwaters this morning- Yum!

The Notes story

Happy Friday!

The piece we read in class- The Notes on Frey confused me. While I know it was to help us understand how far you should take lying in your narrative I didn’t understand it. After having class discussion the reading did help me get what the man was trying to get across. This reading along with the other few will help make writing my illiteracy narrative easier. I liked seeing different examples of how people write narratives and then getting to discuss them. Even though it took a couple weeks to get to the point, I’m sure writing these narratives will be better thanks to the preparation.

Homebound

Hope everyone had a great weekend like I did:]. I got to go home which was awesome since I haven’t since Labor Day. Apparently everyone had the same idea because a ton of other people went home too haha. Time went by too fast but I’m glad I got the chance to see family/friends and relax. I had some amazing homemade stew, Potbelly’s, Plush Horse and Chicago pizza- talk about the freshmen 15.. haha just kidding had to stock up before coming back to this cafeteria food. My roommate drove me there with a couple other friends and on the way back drove with my parents and met them up at the County Line Apple Orchard in Indiana. They are known for their amazing donuts and apples more obvious. I’m so glad we got to stop because it is a family tradition :]

My illiteracy narrative

In class on Thursday we talked about our reading- My Illiteracy Narrative. I found this article necessary to discuss because of our upcoming assignment. I thought it was necessary because people need to see how miscommunication happens between people in different ways. This miscommunication was interesting to me since it is not the type of lifestyle most middle class Americans are used to. The class discussion made me think deeper into the story while wanting to know more about her life. I think the point of reading this was to get us prepared for our upcoming writing assignment, which should be fun but difficult to write about.

The past week has been filled with emotions and a busy schedule. I rushed for sororities this week and I’m so glad I got the opportunity. I am officially a member of Pi Beta Phi as of last night. While I am still not sure greek life is for me yet, giving this a chance is a great way to start freshmen year. The fact of how much community service greeks have combined and crazy and not the stereotype I had in my head. Having a bond with people like this is something unique and great that Western along with almost every college has. The sororities here on campus are awesome and from what I know the frats are too from the people I have hung out with this week and even going out on weekends before rush started.

Introduction

Hey its Christina!

 I'm sitting in thought and writing waiting to get out so I can get homework done- maybe and watch the VMA's which should be good. This class seems like it will be fun but not sure about the common read. I'm a freshmen living in Valley 2- Eicher and fifth floor is where it's at. I'm outgoing and like to meet new people. Working out is something I like to do in my spare time but no one should worry about it with all these of these hills around. For my last sentence to make it interesting I used to ride horses and am an only child.
